Des flots de v\u00e9hicules d\u00e9valant les routes \u00e0 la vitesse de l&rsquo;\u00e9clair deviendraient monnaie courante. Il suffit d&rsquo;une petite erreur de la part des conducteurs de ces convois rapides pour que la menace toujours pr\u00e9sente d&rsquo;un d\u00e9sastre frappe avec des cons\u00e9quences tragiques. Il peut s&rsquo;agir d&rsquo;un automobiliste imprudent sortant d&rsquo;un carrefour ou circulant en sens inverse, ou m\u00eame d&rsquo;un troupeau de ch\u00e8vres traversant soudainement la route. Cependant, la grande majorit\u00e9 des pays du monde ont mis en place d&rsquo;importants protocoles formels et de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 concernant la configuration et le d\u00e9roulement de ces cort\u00e8ges.<\/p>\n\n<p>Les cort\u00e8ges motoris\u00e9s ont leurs racines aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Lorsque le pr\u00e9sident Theodore Roosevelt a utilis\u00e9 une s\u00e9rie de v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 moteur lors d&rsquo;un \u00e9v\u00e9nement \u00e0 San Francisco, le terme s&rsquo;est impos\u00e9. L&rsquo;av\u00e8nement de l&rsquo;automobile dans le cort\u00e8ge, tel que nous le connaissons aujourd&rsquo;hui, a eu lieu en 1903.
